Kalbert Young '87

Vice Chair/Treasurer, Finance Committee Chair
Kalbert Young is currently the Vice President for budget and Finance and the chief financial officer of the University of Hawai‘i System, a position he has held since early 2015. Kalbert has previously served as the director of the Department of Finance for the State of Hawai‘i from 2011 to 2014, a post whose responsibilities included managing and advising on the State’s $11+ billion budget. He also was the director of finance for the County of Maui from 2004 to 2010, serving under two mayors, and has worked in the private sector for the Kapalua Land Co. and Kamehameha Schools. Kalbert has served as a trustee on the board of the Hawai‘i State Employees’ Retirement System and is currently a trustee on the State of Hawai‘i Deferred Compensation (457) Board.
 
Kalbert earned a bachelor’s degree in American History and a Masters of Business Administration, both from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.  Kalbert is a 1987 graduate of Maryknoll School and a resident of Honolulu.  Kalbert and his wife Cindy have a daughter Namlyn who attends Maryknoll (class of 2028).
