Grade Level Admission Entry Points
Students are accepted at all grade levels with major entry points of Kindergarten, Grade 6, and Grade 9. Special consideration is given to qualified alumni children, siblings of current Maryknoll students, Catholic families, and children with special talents who will enrich the school’s community. Admissions decisions are based on a variety of factors. Maryknoll School takes a holistic approach to reviewing admission applications.
Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 12: Accepting Applications for the 2026–2027 School Year
In addition to completing our online application, families with students applying to Maryknoll School must submit report cards, teacher reference reports, and other supporting documents based on the grade level you are applying for. Students applying to grades 1–3 will be assessed in the areas of math, reading, and writing.
Students applying to grades 4–12 must attend an interview session on our campus.

Testing
Requirements vary by grade level.
APPLICANTS TO GRADES PK – 3: Once your application is received, we will contact you to schedule a date for an assessment/interview.
Pre-K and Kindergarten applicants are assessed on fine motor skills, language development, group behavior, and academic readiness.
Grade 1–3 applicants are assessed in the areas of math, reading, and writing.
APPLICANTS TO GRADES 4 – 12: Students applying to grade 4 – 12 are required to submit a standardized test. We accept the SSAT or the most recent standardized assessment administered at the student's current school.
For example, common standardized assessments in Hawaii include the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC), the Hawaii State Assessment (HSA), or the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) test etc.
Supporting Documents
Upload your child’s birth certificate, teacher reference report, and more.
The deadline to submit all supporting application documents is February 10, 2026.
On Maryknoll's application page, click on Teacher Reference Report.
You'll be asked to input your child's current teacher's name and email address.
The teacher will receive an email with a link to a secure Teacher Reference Report. If your child has more than one teacher for major subjects, additional forms can be requested using the Add Person button.
Once the teacher fills out the form, she or he will submit it directly to our school.
After we have received the form from the teacher, we will mark this step as complete.
Maryknoll uses Clarity Schools to help determine eligibility. Recommendations made by Clarity Schools are reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee and may be adjusted accordingly. The family’s total income and assets, the number of children attending tuition charging schools, housing costs, medical expenses, debt obligations, and other special circumstances are also considered.
It is important to keep in mind that while we try to assist as many qualified students as possible, financing a private school education remains the primary responsibility of the family. Maryknoll requires both parents (whether divorced, separated or never married) to complete the financial aid process.
Families of returning students must reapply each year for financial assistance.
In order for returning students to receive financial aid, they must have demonstrated a commitment to academics and co-curricular activities and participated positively in the school community. A returning student’s family who is in arrears with its financial obligation to the school will be ineligible to receive aid until the balance is resolved; this may jeopardize the possibility of receiving aid the following year.
Note: Families of students who have met the Financial Aid deadline of November 15, 2025, will receive their Financial Aid award letters in February 2026.
Decisions
Decision letters will be sent out via hard-copy mail and email.
Grades 6–12 families of newly admitted students who meet the February 15 Financial Aid deadline will receive decision letters by late March.
