Layne Fujimoto '14 Completes Hawaiian Airlines Aircraft Mechanic Apprenticeship Program

Congratulations to alumnus Layne Fujimoto '14 on completing Hawaiian Airlines' Aircraft Mechanic Apprenticeship Program! 
Hawaiian’s Aircraft Mechanic Apprenticeship Program (AMAP), in partnership with Honolulu Community College's Aeronautics Maintenance Technology program, provides valuable on-the-job experience for up to eight candidates as they work toward obtaining their Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license, a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification.
 
To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in an accredited A&P FAA school such as HonCC for a minimum of six months, or have previous military or aviation experience and be in the process of obtaining their A&P license. Participants who earn their A&P license and demonstrate strong performance will be guaranteed a position with Hawaiian Airlines as full-time aircraft mechanics.
In September 2016, Maryknoll School received a $50,000 grant from the Hawaiian Airlines Foundationto be used to purchase 13 Z-Space Virtual Reality computer systems for use in our Mx STEM and Aerospace Program.

The Mx Scholar Programs for STEM and Aerospace, Medical Innovation, Business and Diplomacy and Creative Arts and Expressions allow students to take elective courses that align with their passions and interests, while also working closely with professional partners, mentors and visiting professors.
