John Vannatta

Member, Education Committee Chair
John Vannatta retired from the State of Hawaii, Department of Education (DOE) as a teacher and administrator with 37 years of experience in Hawaii Public Schools.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Industrial Education, a Professional Diploma in Curriculum and Instruction and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration.
 
Mr. Vannatta’s last administrative assignment in the DOE was as the Principal for Waipahu Community School for Adults (WCSA). His primary duty was to provide educational leadership, fiscal and administrative oversight of the five WCSA campuses located in Waipahu, Wahiawa, Windward Oahu, Hilo and Kona. While at WCSA he also managed numerous program partnerships with a variety of public, private and educational institutions.
 
Previous to WCSA, he was appointed to Waianae Intermediate as Principal and served as a Vice Principal at Highlands Intermediate in Pearl City, Nanaikapono Elementary in Nanakuli and Waipahu High School.
 
He is also a member of the Hawaii Youth Challenge Foundation Board and is a former member of the City and County of Honolulu, Work Force Investment Board and the State of Hawaii, Work Force Development Council.
