President Search update from selection committee co-chairpersons
Dear School Community Members,
We pray this email finds you and your ohana doing well. We wanted to take this time to inform our school community that Maryknoll continues to move forward, in spite of the current situation with COVID-19. While we started the school year with “real-time” distance learning for all students, the past week has seen the opening of both campuses and the return “home” for our students.
With the departure of Mr. Perry Martin, Mrs. Shana Tong 83' was named the interim school president for the 2020-21 school year. The school board has selected a search committee to begin the search for the next Maryknoll School president. To assist with the search for the next Maryknoll President, we have engaged the services of search consultants Doreen Oleson and Jim Scott of Resource Group 175.
Mrs. Oleson and Dr. Scott have already met with the search committee and are planning to meet with selected groups of faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents, alumni, and friends of the school to get to know the school community. These meetings will help them develop a Position Statement that will outline the strengths, challenges, opportunities, and culture of the school, as well as the leadership experience, qualities, and attributes of the next President.
The Position Statement, when approved by the search committee, will be widely distributed, with applications due in early November. We will continue to update the school community on the progress of the search committee and the search for the next president of Maryknoll School.
