Maryknoll Students Compete in Little League and Cal Ripken World Series
Maryknoll School
Earlier this month, three of our Maryknoll middle schoolers represented Hawai‘i with pride on the national stage, competing in the Cal Ripken and Little League World Series, where they earned major recognition for their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We’re proud to recognize Hunter Morimoto ‘31, Evan Crawford ‘31, and Brodie Tom ‘32 for their outstanding accomplishments, who were celebrated at a recent morning assembly on campus.
Hunter Morimoto ‘31
Team: Hawai‘i Kai Los Animales Tournament: Cal Ripken 12U World Series – Branson, Missouri
Hunter competed with Hawai‘i Kai Los Animales in the prestigious Cal Ripken 12U World Series, representing the Southwest Pacific Region. Coached by former MLB catcher Dane Sardinha, the team played with heart and determination, ultimately winning the Ironman Bracket.
To claim the championship title, Hunter and his teammates defeated teams from Puerto Rico, Arkansas, and the Mid-Atlantic region, proudly representing Hawai‘i on the national stage!
Evan Crawford ‘31
Team: Honolulu Little League All-Stars Tournament: Little League World Series – Williamsport, Pennsylvania
Evan was selected for the elite Honolulu Little League All-Star team, coached by 2x World Series champion Gerald Oda. His team powered through a competitive road to Williamsport, going 9–2 and winning the District, State, and West Region championships. Evan delivered standout performances, including:
A two-run homer in the State Tournament
A diving catch that ranked #7 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 (Aug 4)
A win on the mound as a pitcher in the World Series
A postgame press conference appearance, where he represented Hawai‘i with poise and confidence
He also earned recognition for his media presence, having been interviewed by ESPN KidCast’s Pepper Persley. Evan credits his 6th-grade media class at Maryknoll for helping him speak confidently in the national spotlight.
Brodie Tom ‘32
Team: Mānoa All-Stars Tournament: Cal Ripken 10U World Series – Branson, Missouri
New to Maryknoll this year, Brodie made an impressive debut as a Class of 2032 Spartan. He played for the Mānoa All-Stars in the Cal Ripken 10U World Series, also held in Branson, MO. His team proudly represented Hawai‘i as the Pacific Southwest Regional Champions, advancing all the way to the championship game and finishing 2nd overall in the national tournament.
At Maryknoll, we celebrate our students not just for what they do, but for who they are — and these three Spartans exemplify what it means to lead with integrity, effort, and humility. Whether on the field, in the classroom, or in front of cameras, they represent our community with pride.
