Bella Cravens '18 selected as December's Scholar-Athlete for the Eastern Washington Women's Basketball Team
Former Lady Spartan Bella Cravens '18 and current Eagle of the Eastern Washington Women's Basketball named Scholar-Athlete for the month of December!
Bella Cravens '18
, a sophomore from Laie, Hawaii, and graduate of Maryknoll School, has a 3.64 grade point average at Eastern as a major in communication studies with an emphasis on public relations.
Cravens started all seven games during the month of December for the Eastern women's team, averaging 11.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. Cravens scored in double figures in four games during the month, plus had a pair of nine-point performances to open up Big Sky Conference play. She also had three games with double-digit rebounds, including two with nine as well.
Also during the month, she shot 48.6 percent from the field after making 34 of her 70 attempts. She was also 11-for-19 from the free throw line to shoot 57.9 percent. She had a block in every game during the month, including four games with three to go with an average of 1.3 steals per game.
She started the month with back-to-back double-doubles, totaling a career-high 17 points to go with 12 rebounds against Pepperdine and scoring 16 points with a career-best 15 rebounds against Northwest Christian. Following the Roo Holiday Classic where EWU faced hosts Kansas City and Bradley, Cravens was named to the All-Tournament team after leading the team in scoring in both games. She put together a stat line of 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 1.0 assists per game and shot 41.7 percent from the field.
Currently, Cravens is leading the Big Sky and the team with 8.6 rebounds per game and adds 8.8 points per game. She is also third in the conference with 1.6 blocks per contest and both her rebounds and blocks averages rank in the top-100 nationally.
