The 2025 National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) REALM (Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines) Awards honored 135 recipients from 456 submissions across 44 states and six countries. We are excited to share that Maryknoll's Toad literary magazine's 43rd Issue, "Evening on the Bayou", was among the Top winners with a Superior/First Class rating. The Toad is one of 4 schools from Hawaii receiving this honor.

This national honor celebrates outstanding middle school, high school, and higher education literary magazines that are student-produced and the educators who support them. Magazines are judged on the quality of student writing, art, and overall production. Results for the 2025 competition were released in late February 2026. The Toad is a beautiful reflection our students' creativity, craft, and commitment to art and the written word.

Congratulations to our chief editors Class of 2026 - Journey Hahn, Myra Pettit, Mandy Ho, and Belle Van De Water guided by faculty advisor Ms. Michelle Corpus. Thank you most of all to the talented student writers and artists for this exceptional achievement!
