Media Advisory: Maryknoll School Celebrates Boys Basketball Team Winning First State Championship in 35 Years


Maryknoll School will hold a celebratory assembly for all students, staff and faculty for grades K-12 to recognize the Boys Varsity I Basketball Team for winning the Hawaii State Division I Basketball Championship this past weekend.



When: Thursday, February 28, 2019
  • 9:55 a.m.  Basketball team and High School students parade from Maryknoll High School on Punahou Street, down Wilder Avenue to Maryknoll Grade School campus on Dole Street

  • 10:15 a.m. Assembly begins in Maryknoll Community Center

Background:
The Maryknoll Boys Varsity I Basketball Team triumphed over Punahou 50-34 on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Stan Sheriff Center to clinch the State Division I title. This is the Spartans first basketball state championship since 1984, when Head Coach Kelly Grant himself was a senior guard on the Maryknoll team.
