Message From Ben Valle '84, Maryknoll Director of Athletics

Dear Maryknoll Spartan Community,

What an amazing season this has been for our scholar-athletes! On behalf of all of us at Maryknoll School and most especially head coach Kelly Grant '84 and our entire Athletic Department - scholar-athletes, coaches, training and administrative staff - I'd like to personally thank you for the tremendous support you have shown our department and our school. Without your unwavering support, our boys could not have accomplished what they did this weekend, clinching back-to-back boys state titles for the first time in school history.

Our championship win not just a victory for our team, but a win for our entire school. When our scholar-athletes succeed, our entire school succeeds. Our younger students look up to our varsity scholar-athletes for inspiration and they serve as role-models that help them to aspire to be in their shoes one day. No matter how you're connected to our community - parents, alumni, students, faculty, staff, administrators, board members, parents of alumni or just huge fans of our program - I am extremely grateful for what you do for our school.

Maryknoll was founded on the principles of Noblesse Oblige and the ideal that, as long as we are united as a community, the possibilities of what our students can achieve are endless. The Maryknoll Sisters faced tremendous adversity and challenges during our school's early days nearly a century ago. I draw parallels with the sisters' challenges to our present-day grit and tenacity of our scholar-athletes, with our boys varsity basketball team serving as just one example of this commitment and dedication to a common passion.

Clinching back-to-back Division I state titles in any sport, especially basketball, is no easy feat. I'm immensely proud of what our players and our coaches achieved this year and last, and I look forward to witnessing what they, and all of our Maryknoll scholar-athletes, will continue to accomplish for years to come. Please join me in congratulating these young men on this amazing accomplishment.

Again, thank you for your continued dedication, love, and support of Maryknoll School Athletics.

Mahalo and Noblesse Oblige,

Ben Valle '84
Director of Athletics

Our program's success would not be possible without those that support and stand behind it. Our team expressed their appreciation to their fans and supporters after their championship win.
