ZSpace Brings Dissections To Life for 8th Graders

Maryknoll Maryknoll & Communications
On Thursday, April 4th, our 8th Graders explored our ZSpace 3D computers as a part of their Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Curriculum. Their current project calls for learning how to use the ZSpace computers, exploring the anatomy software, dissecting a pickle, dissecting a ZSpace brain and finally culminating in a real Project Lead the Way sheep brain dissection.
zSpace is a 3-D virtual reality technology. Using the world’s first virtual reality stylus, teachers and students lift items off the screen and into the air, as if they are real, creating an interactive and collaborative learning experience.

In 2016, The Hawaiian Airlines Foundation awarded Maryknoll a $50,000 grant to fund the purchase of 13 zSpace 3-D virtual reality computers with software licenses and professional development. Maryknoll School is the first and only K-12 school in Hawaii to introduce zSpace learning units into its curriculum. Currently, Maryknoll School and the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) are the only two institutions in Hawaii with zSpace technology.
