Maryknoll and other Manoa, Makiki, Moiliili, and McCully Schools Give Back in September
Throughout the month of September, Maryknoll School and the Blue Zones Project® partnered together through the Youth Service America (www.ysa.org) Lead Agency Program to serve our community! This partnership activated students across Mānoa, Makiki, Mōʻiliʻili, and McCully to give back to the community in honor of September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance. Brought to Hawaii by HMSA, Blue Zones Project is a well-being initiative with the goal to make healthy choices easier in the places that we live, work and play.
Over 200 students from Maryknoll School and Washington Middle School conducted a park clean-up at Makiki District Park on Monday, September 10th to beautify our community and celebrate our parks.
In addition, our students, along with students from Manoa Elementary School and Stevenson Middle School, wrote appreciation cards for current service members, veterans and first-responders. The cards also included a variety of healthy lifestyle tips from the Blue Zones Project.
Mahalo to all of our students, neighboring schools, YSA, and the Blue Zones Project for allowing us to collaborate in this meaningful way and for giving us the opportunity to live out and practice Noblesse Oblige in the community. We look forward to more opportunities to serve our island community with our neighboring schools, community partners and other organizations throughout the school year.
