Tropical Storm Olivia Updates

As we mentioned yesterday, our school administration team has been closely monitoring the progress of Tropical Storm Olivia and reviewing available information from the Central Pacific Hurricane Center and the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency. The safety of our entire school community is, and will always be, our highest priority.
After reviewing the most updated information available and holding discussions with other private schools and the Hawaii Department of Education, we will remain open on Wednesday, September 12.
All school operations, extracurricular activities and afterschool care will continue as scheduled, with special care taken to account for inclement weather conditions. Please note that athletic games and practices will also continue, weather conditions permitting. Any practice or game cancellations will be posted to myMaryknoll.
Parents should make the best possible decision for their children with regards to their attendance at school tomorrow. Please note that students who are tardy or absent due to issues or emergencies related to Tropical Storm Olivia will not be penalized. If your child is unable to attend school tomorrow or will be tardy, please be sure to notify us by calling or emailing our Grade School or High School offices.

Should conditions change that cause our school to alter our current plans to remain open, we will inform you as soon as possible via our Blackboard Connect Notification System and email. Updates will also be posted to our school website (www.maryknollschool.org), myMaryknoll, and our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram). Please continue to monitor these information sources throughout the evening.

At this time, there are no changes to our school schedule, athletics or extracurricular activities. However, please keep in mind that the unpredictability of Tropical Storm Olivia may warrant a school closure if the safety of our students, families, employees and community is put at risk. The safety of our entire school community is our highest priority.

As many of you are aware, Tropical Storm Olivia is currently forecast to impact the state in the coming days. Please know that we are closely monitoring the progress of the storm, in order to make a final determination as to how it may impact our school operations. As of today, Monday, September 10th, there are no changes to our school schedule, athletics or extracurricular activities.
However, please keep in mind that the unpredictability of the storm may warrant a school closure if the safety of our students, families, employees and community is put at risk. The safety and well-being of our entire school community is our highest priority.
Should the storm impact our normal school operations, we will notify all families immediately via phone call (from 808-952-8400) and email (from email@blackboard.com), using our Blackboard Connect Notification System. If you are unable to answer the phone call, the system will leave a voicemail on your phone. Notifications and updates will also be posted to on the homepage of our school website and myMaryknoll.
Please continue to monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Olivia and ensure that you and your families are prepared for the severe weather this storm may bring to the island. Thank you for your understanding and may God keep you, your families and Maryknoll School safe.
