Academic Dean and Economics Teacher Mrs. Kit-U Wong '06 Named HCEE Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to high school economics teacher, academic dean and Maryknoll alumna Mrs. Kit-U Wong ’06 on being selected as the Hawaii Council on Economic Education’s (HCEE) Teacher of the Year!
Each year, HCEE selects the teacher of the year based on the ability of an economics teacher to successfully engage their students in the subject of economics and personal finance, while developing innovative strategies to inspire them to learn. Mrs. Wong's recently developed an outstanding project called “Navigating the Financial ABC’s of a College Education”, and has been teaching at Maryknoll School for over seven years, five of which have been spent teaching economics, AP economics and personal finance. This year, Mrs. Wong will be honored at HCEE’s annual fundraising dinner on September 13th at the Sheraton Waikiki.

HCEE promotes and improves the teaching of economics in Hawaii’s public and private schools, and increases the economic and financial literacy of Hawaii’s students and residents. HCEE is the only statewide organization dedicated to improving the teaching and learning of economics in Hawaii's public and private K-12 schools.

On Wednesday, September 5th, Mrs. Wong was also featured on Hawaii News Now Sunrise, alongside Denise Esposito, executive director of HCEE, where they spoke about the importance of economics and personal finance education, and shared more information about HCEE's Annual Dinner.

Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, Mrs. Wong!
