Maryknoll Alumni Give Back to HOPE Services Hawaii

We are so proud of our two Maryknoll alumni, Anne Harpham '68 and Dean Au '93, who are on the Board of Directors of HOPE Services Hawaii.
HOPE's mission is to bring to life gospel values of justice, love, compassion and hope through service, empowerment and advocacy.

Anne Harpham currently works in the Office of Institutional Advancement at Maryknoll School and previously was a journalist for many years with the 
Honolulu Advertiser, where she worked as a copy editor, reporter, city editor, business editor, managing editor, reader representative and senior editor. At The Advertiser she covered tourism for 12 years and as senior editor was in charge of the Advertiser’s PM edition from 2001 to 2005. She also wrote editorials focusing on social service needs in the community. At Maryknoll School she works in fundraising for school operations and scholarship endowments and edits the Knoller, Maryknoll’s magazine. Anne is also an active volunteer in the community. She serves on the board of the Hawaii Catholic Conference, Susan G. Komen Hawaii Affiliate, St. Damien Catholic Worker in Hawaii, a volunteer in the American Cancer Society Reach to Recovery Program and teaches in the RCIA program at her parish, St. Augustine By-The-Sea. Anne is a graduate of Maryknoll School in Honolulu and Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI.


Dean Au was born and raised in Manoa Valley, island of Oahu. He graduated from Maryknoll High School in 1993. He has 24 plus years of experience in the Construction Industry as a Carpenter and General Contractor. He has volunteered his time and construction expertise to help many non profit organizations on the Big Island, most recently Hawai’i island Food Basket and Saint Joseph Schools/Church. He is currently the Hilo Field Representative for the Hawai’i Regional Council of Carpenters.
