Junior Taylor Sayles ’19 was attributed with helping to sponsor Oahu’s new distracted walking law, which was signed July 27, 2017 by Mayor Kirk Caldwell.
The law is the first of its kind in any major metropolitan city in the United States where it prohibits pedestrians from walking across the street while looking at a mobile device.
"My generation and other generations really don't understand how important it is to pay attention when you're either crossing the street or driving," said Taylor while being interviewed by Hawaii News Now.
Safety and security is a top priority here at Maryknoll School and we’d like to express our utmost gratitude by thanking Taylor for your leadership in making Hawaii a safer place. Mahalo!
