Maryknoll School invites all lifelong learners to experience an unforgettable summer. Your child can explore their interests and accelerate their academics through a variety of our K-12 programs. With programs from Chinese Immersion and basketball to app building and art, your child’s summer is sure to be memorable.

  • Hands-On Science, Robotics and Math

    We offer a variety of science, robotics and math classes. Check out our 2019 Summer Programs Course Booklet to learn more about our S.T.E.M. classes and camps for grades K-12, including:
    • Science classes using state-of-the-art zSpace 3D virtual reality computers (grades 1-3 and 4-6).
    • LEGO Bricks and LEGO robotics classes that introduce engineering, architecture, physics and more (grades 1-3 and 4-6).
    • Math Exploration (grades 1-7) and Algebra Preview (grade 8).
    • S.T.E.M. Adventure Camp (grades K-3: July 22-26) where campers will build city-themed models using LEGO Bricks.
    • Technology in the Middle School course, highly recommended for middle school students entering Maryknoll School (grades 6-8).
    • Full credit and half credit High School math and science courses including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics (grades 9-12; exact grade levels vary by course).
  • Coding

    Software is everywhere. It’s shaping almost every aspect of our lives! Does your child want to learn to code? Check out our 2019 Summer Programs Course Booklet for classes and camp options like:
    • Code It! (grades 1-3 and 4-6) featuring puzzles, video lectures by Mark Zuckerberg and characters from popular games like Angry Birds and Plants vs. Zombies.
    • App Builders (grades 5-8) where students will create apps for mobile devices (iPhone or Android) and iPads.
    • Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Camps (ages 7-16: July 22-26) about moding, networking and hosting with Minecraft, programming using a Microsoft Xbox controller, creating a Mario Kart style game, and building platform and arcade-style games.
  • Visual Arts, Music, Cooking & Filmmaking

    Arts and creativity are emphasized at Maryknoll School. Whether your child loves visual arts, music or video production, there’s a class for them! Check out our 2019 Summer Programs Course Booklet for courses like:
    • Makai Adventures (grades 1-3 and 4-6) where students will explore the ocean environment and express themselves through art, learning color mixing, shading, principles and elements of design, and three-dimensional construction.
    • Ukulele at the beginning level (grades 2-4) and intermediate level (grades 3-6).
    • Video production classes where students plan, script, produce and shoot their own films (grades 1-3 and grades 5-8) or create their own film using computer animation (grades 4-8).
    • Keiki Chefs 2.0 International (grades 2-4) that teaches students food preparation, nutrition and healthy, multi-culturally inspired recipes from around the world.
  • Language Arts

    • Fun with Language Arts (grades 1-5).
    • Grammar Bootcamp (grades 6-8).

  • Basketball, Volleyball, Karate & Fitness

    Whether your child is looking to pick up a new sport or enhance their summer training for basketball or volleyball, check out our Spartan Athletics summer programs. Full descriptions are available in the 2019 Summer Programs Course BookletAll programs except Advanced Training for Athletes are open to boys and girls of all skill and fitness levels.
    • Court Sports (grades 1-3 and 4-6) about the basic skills for team sports such as indoor soccer, volleyball, basketball, flag football and more.
    • Hoop It Up (grades 4-6) about basketball fundamentals and teamwork. Boys and girls will be grouped according to age and ability levels.
    • Advanced Spike It! (grades 5-8) afternoon program about volleyball skills and strategies. Boys and girls will be grouped by skill level.
    • Spartan Basketball Camp (grades 4-8: July 29-31) with our state basketball championship-winning Spartan coaching staff! Fundamental skills, advanced drills and team play for boys and girls of all basketball levels.
    • Spartan Fitness (grades 5-8) afternoon program using the Maryknoll Community Center fitness room for students who want to start a fitness program or need additional strength and conditioning for a specific sport.
    • Advanced Training for Athletes (grades 9-12) for competitive scholar-athletes looking to enhance their out-of-sport training by working with a personal trainer.
    • Karate (grades 1-6) covering basic to intermediate skills under the leadership of Sensei Mari Kotaka from the world-renowned International Karate Federation (IKF).
  • Intersession Programs: July 22-31, 2019 (exact dates vary by camp)

    • S.T.E.M. Adventure Camp (grades K-3: July 22-26) where campers will build city-themed models using LEGO Bricks.
    • End of Summer Bash (grades K-6: July 22-31) summer fun program.
    • Spartan Basketball Camp (grades 4-8: July 29-31) with our state basketball championship-winning Spartan coaching staff! Fundamental skills, advanced drills and team play for boys and girls of all basketball levels.
    • Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Camps (ages 7-16: July 22-26) about moding, networking and hosting with Minecraft, programming using a Microsoft Xbox controller, creating a Mario Kart style game, and building platform and arcade-style games.

  • Mandarin Chinese Language Immersion

    We offer dual-language Chinese immersion for kindergarten students to develop skills in listening, speaking, reading and math readiness in both Mandarin and English. Children will be immersed in Mandarin for 2 hours and in English for 2 hours. See the full course description in the 2019 Summer Programs Course Booklet.
  • After School Programs, SAT Prep, Driver Education & Other Programs

    • First Steps preparation class for kindergarten, designed to develop skills in listening, speaking, reading, math readiness and independent work.
    • Summer After School Care Recreation Program (grades K-5, 12:15 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.) featuring learning centers in arts and crafts, cooking, outdoor games and LEGOrobotics, as well as weekly off-campus excursions.
    • Afternoon video production where students plan, script, produce and shoot their own films (grades 5-8).
    • Advanced Spike It! (grades 5-8) afternoon program about volleyball skills and strategies. Boys and girls will be grouped by skill level.
    • Spartan Fitness (grades 5-8) afternoon program using the Maryknoll Community Center fitness room for students who want to start a fitness program or need additional strength and conditioning for a specific sport.
    • Junior Leader Program (grades 6-8, 12:15 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.) for students interested in assisting Maryknoll staff with the After School Care Recreation Program.
    • SAT Prep (grades 10-12) for students who want to raise their SAT I scores and build vocabulary and math skills.
    • Driver Education (must be 15 ½ years of age before the start of the program) for students seeking classroom instruction certification and behind-the-wheel (road) certification.
