Admission Information

Admission to Maryknoll School is competitive. Students are accepted at all levels with major entry points being Kindergarten, Grade 6, and Grade 9. Admission procedures are designed to select students who will benefit most from the program offered at Maryknoll School. Special consideration is given to qualified alumni children, siblings of current Maryknoll students, Catholic families, and children with special talents which will enrich the school community.

  • All applicants are required to attend an on-site assessment/interview, we will send you a letter confirming your scheduled date by mail.

  • Students applying to Kindergarten will be observed in small group and individual activities. Areas to be assessed include: fine motor skills, language development, group behavior and academic readiness.

  • Students applying to grades 1-3 will be assessed in the areas of math, reading and writing.

  • Applicants to grades 4–12 are required to take the SSAT – a national examination for students applying to independent schools. Please use Maryknoll School code #4913 when registering to take this exam.

    In addition to the SSAT students applying to grades 4–12 are required to attend an interview session on our campus. You will be notified of your interview appointment date/time by mail.

International Students

Admission to international students is limited to those students who--in addition to meeting our requirements for regular admission--are proficient in their use and understanding of English in both written and oral forms. Applicants to Grades 10 through 12 are required to submit scores from the TOEFL. Maryknoll does not have an ESL program and does not provide boarding facilities. Kindergarten and Grade 1 Requirements

  • On-site small-group observation

  • Teacher recommendation

  • Final progress report from previous school year (if available)

  • Mid-year progress report for current school year (if available)

  • Parent questionnaire

  • Birth certificate (copy)

  • * Baptismal certificate (if Catholic) 

  • A child must be five years old by December 31st of the year of entry for admission into Kindergarten.

  • A child must be six years old by December 31st of the year of entry for admission into Grade 1.

Grades 2 & 3 Requirements 

  • On-site testing

  • Standardized test scores from previous years (if available)

  • Teacher recommendations

  • Final report card from previous school year

  • Interview

  • SSAT test scores - Maryknoll Code #4913 (applicants to grades 11 and 12 may submit PSAT or SAT scores)

  • Standardized test scores from previous years (if available)

  • Portfolio materials (optional)

  • Mentor recommendations (optional)

  • Birth certificate
