Purpose:

The Internet is a mixture of millions of pages of information. But how do we tell what is a good source?  The purpose of this webquest is to help you become a better consumer of Internet information.  In the process, it will also help to prepare you for your final webquest.

The Task:

Form a group of 4-5 members.  Your task will be to create a "webliography" of sites that will be useful when you begin to design your Holocaust Virtual Museum.  You will first learn how to evaluate a web site, then you will find and evaluate sites that you and your team have found.

The Process:

  1. Each member of the team must complete Task A. When the task is complete, the finished form must be turned into the teacher.  All members must complete this section before going on to Task B.
  2. Task B:  Search and research the Internet for information on the following topics:

holocaust

ethnic cleansing (post-WWII)

Japanese internment camps

concentration camps

genocide

human rights

war crimes Nuremburg trials
 
  1. Task C:  Evaluate each of the sites you chose and rate it according to the evaluation criteria worksheet.  Choose a rating system (stars, numbers, books, etc.) and label each site according to its accuracy, authority, objectivity, currency, and coverage.
  2. Task D: Assemble your findings into a "webliography.

The Evaluation:

The completed webliography will be turned into the teacher for evaluation based on the attached rubric.
