Synergy Action Plan for Teamwork
Synergy happens when two or more people work together to create a better solution than either could alone. How do you get there? Just follow the Action Plan.
Define the Problem or Opportunity - Step back from your emotions and put the problem into perspective. Do others see it the same way you do? What is the real issue?
Their Way – Try using your listening skills to understand the ideas of the others. Accept all the ideas without prejudice. Seek first to understand the ideas of others.
My Way- Seek to be understood by sharing your ideas. Try to make your ideas clear without insisting on agreement.
Brainstorm – Use your group’s combined skills to find creative solutions. Avoid criticism and keep building on the best ideas. One great idea leads to another, which leads to another.
High Way – Find the best solution. Remember that you don’t own your ideas. With everyone sharing, there is a good chance that a better solution will come out.
Teamwork
Every team has people with different skills and talents. They each have important roles. A great team of five or more people might include:
Plodders. Sure and steady, they stick to a job until it’s done.
Followers. They are very supportive of the leaders. Given an idea, they can run with it.
Innovators. They are the creative, idea people. They offer the sparks.
Harmonizers. They provide unity and support as they work with others and encourage cooperation.
Show-offs. Fun to work with, they can be tough at times. They often add the spice and momentum needed to bring the team overall success.
