Now that you’ve taken a look at yourself and your goals, it’s time to write your mission statement. Here are three methods to choose from:

Method 1: The Quote Collection. Collect one to five quotations that reflect your goals.

Method 2: The Brain Dump. Speed write you mission statement for 15 minutes. Don’t edit what you’re writing. Then take another 15 minutes to edit, arrange, and make sense of your brain dump. Over the next several weeks you can revise it, edit it, or do whatever else you need to make it inspire you.

Method 3: The Retreat. Plan a large chunk of time, go to a place you love and where you can be alone. Think deeply about your life and what you want to make of it. Take your time and write your own mission statement.

Once you have written your statement, put it in a place where you can easily see it and refer to it often.
