Maryknoll School Board
The Maryknoll School Board exists solely to identify and fulfill the mission of the school, plan for its needs, develop policy and select and sustain the School President. Board members are selected volunteers who are responsible for ensuring that the school maintains and develops its financial strength. The Board works hard to preserve the values of the past and at the same time deal with the demands of the present and future for change.
School Governance
A 20-member school board governs Maryknoll School. School policies and procedures, especially in the areas of Goal Setting, Planning, Finances, Development, Education, and Facilities; are planned and implemented by the board.

Cori Ching Weston is senior vice president and manager of the Investment Services Group Compliance & Risk Management Department at Bank of Hawaii, where she is also chairman of the Hawaii Community Reinvestment Act Advisory Committee and a member of the Charitable Foundation Grants Committee. Cori earned her B.A. with high honors in English and American Studies from the University of Notre Dame, and went on to earn her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School. She also devotes a tremendous amount of time and energy to other organizations, including Chaminade University, where she is a member of the Board of Regents, member of the Student Affairs Committee and chair of the Mission & Identity Committee; the Metropolitan Rotary Club of Honolulu, where she served as past chairman of the Membership Committee and is a member of the Fellowship Committee; and the Hawaii State Bar Association, for which she serves as treasurer and former president of the HSBA Corporate Counsel Section. She is also a member of Hawaii Women Lawyers. Cori is married to Jeffrey G. Weston, a U.S. Marshal. They have two daughters, Ashley and Taylor. |

| Paul Chinen Vice Chairman Class of 57 | ||
Paul Chinen, Maryknoll Class of 1957, was the son of Kailua vegetable farmers. While in school, he was a member of Maryknoll’s ROTC and rifle team, as well as the Army Reserve. Paul earned his B.S. degree in civil engineering from Seattle University and his master’s degree in civil and structural engineering from Iowa State University. He served 31 years of active duty with the US Army Corps of Engineers,including a two-year volunteer stint in Vietnam as a combat engineer;a position at the Pentagon; and command of the North Atlantic Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, headquartered in New York City. As the recipient of the Army Engineer Association’s Silver de Fleury Medal, Paul was described using the phrases, “Inspirational leadership…selfless service…a beacon for others to follow…” He retired in 1994 as a brigadier general, the first general of Okinawan ancestry in the US Army. Paul recently retired as vice president the Pacific Region Office of Earth Tech, Inc. He is a former president of the Maryknoll School Alumni Association and was the recipient of the 2007 Alumni Achievement Award. Paul is married to Yvonne Chinen. He has a son, Paul Jr. and a daughter, Kelly. |

||
Following her graduation from Maryknoll High School in 1966, Susan Chong Wong ’66 earned her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. She is currently the business manager for her husband, Calvin Y.H. Wong, MD. In addition to her extensive service to Maryknoll School, Susan is a board member for Na Loio, which provides immigration legal services and advocacy in the public interest for people living in Hawaii, with a particular emphasis on serving poor and low-income immigrants and their families. She also serves on the board of the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund, a national organization based in New York that protects and promotes the civil rights of Asian Americans. Susan and Calvin have four children: Cyrus, Collin, Casey and Christopher. |

Robert “Bob” Harrison is President and Chief Operating Officer of First Hawaiian Bank. Bob joined First Hawaiian Bank in 1996 and has more than 20 years of experience in the banking industry. He holds an undergraduate degree in applied mathematics from UCLA and is a graduate of Cornell University's Johnson Graduate School of Management. Bob's community involvement beyond Maryknoll School includes serving as president and chairman of Aloha Harvest (a non-profit organization that gathers quality, donated food and delivers it free of charge to social service agencies that feed the hungry of Hawaii), as a board member for Hawaii Community Reinvestment Corporation (which provides technical and financial assistance for the creation and preservation of affordable housing in Hawaii), and as a board member of the Blood Bank of Hawaii. Bob is a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church and Chair of the Diocesan Finance Committee. Bob and his wife Lori have three children. |

Carmen Himenes is presently the Superintendent of Hawaii Catholic Schools. She has served in Catholic education her entire career. Dr. Himenes has taught at both the elementary and secondary levels and has also been a principal. She received her B.A. from Chaminade University of Honolulu, M.A. in Education from Fort Wright College and an Administrative Credential from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. Dr. Himenes earned a Doctorate in Education from Brigham Young University in Utah. |

| Marlene R. De Costa Facilities Chair Director of Real Estate, Roman Catholic Diocese of Hawaii , Class of 66 | ||
Marlene earned her B.S. degree in sociology from Seattle University and an MBA from Chaminade University of Honolulu. Her business career has spanned over 25 years in commercial property management. Currently she serves as the Asset Services Managing Director for the Hawaii office of CB Richard Ellis, the world’s largest commercial real estate firm. She holds the industry designations of Real Estate Administrator (RPA) and Certified Property Manager (CPM®) and was named as CPM of the Year in 1999. Marlene’s years at Maryknoll instilled a commitment to community service; the school motto, Noblesse Oblige, has been the underlying focus for her community and industry involvement over the years. Marlene currently serves as the chair of the Diocesan Land Asset Management and Acquisition Committee, membership chair of the Kaka’ako Improvement Association, vice chair of the Board of Directors for HUGS (Help, Understanding & Group Support), member of the Facilities Committee at Chaminade University, and member of the Finance Council at Holy Trinity. Marlene is “luckily married” (as she says) to Thom De Costa. They were blessed to have two sons, Matthew, 30 and Todd, 26. |

Fr. Tim is an Assistant Professor of Education at Chaminade University. Born and raised in California. Fr. Tim entered the Society of Mary in 1964 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1977. He taught in Marianist high schools in California and Hawaii prior to arriving at Chaminade. From 1986 to 1994, Fr. Tim was provincial of the Marianist Province of the Pacific. He earned his doctorate in education from the University of San Francisco in 2000 and is currently teaching in Chaminade’s education and religion departments. Fr. Tim is also chaplain of Mystical Rose Oratory. |

Al earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is a Certified Public Accountant and was a partner at Ernst & Young LLP until his retirement from the firm on December 31, 2002. In 2003, Al entered int partnership at KMH LLP, which provides accounting, tax advisory and business consulting services to local companies. In addition to his service to Maryknoll School, Al is treasurer for the Urban Land Institute, a member of the Hawaii Developers’ Council, council treasurer for the Boy Scouts of America Aloha Council, treasurer of the Hawaii Life Science and Technology Council, and a member of the Catholic Diocese Finance Committee. Al and his wife Mary Ann have a daughter, Tanya (Maryknoll Class of 1994) and a son, Alfie (Maryknoll Class of 1996). |

Gino graduated magna cum laude from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He earned his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law, where he was the managing editor of the Washington Law Review and was awarded the Carkeek Prize for best student contribution to the review. Gino joined Cades Schutte in 1982 and has been a partner in the Finance and Real Estate Department since 1987. In addition to his service to Maryknoll School, Gino is past chair of Catholic Charities of Hawaii and current director of the Catholic Charities Housing Development Corporation; honorary counsel, Hawaii CCIM; and director of Community Helping Schools. He is also the commissioner of the State of Hawaii Campaign Spending Commission. Gino is also an avid long distance runner, having completed 15 marathons since 1995. Gino and his wife Christina have been married for 26 years and have three children – Jonathan, Jenna and Jayann. |

| Audrey Hidano Hidano Construction, Inc. | ||
Audrey Hidano is the secretary-treasurer of Hidano Construction, Inc., a small construction business her husband Steve started 35 years ago. Hidano Construction specializes in commercial and residential remodeling, new construction, additions, renovations and warehouses. For more than 20 years, Audrey has been active in the Building Industry Association of Hawaii, for which she served as its 1999 and 2000 President and is currently a Board member. She has also held state and national positions in the National Association of Home Builders. In addition to the Maryknoll School Board, Audrey currently serves on the following boards: Nuuanu YMCA, Boy Scouts of America, Neighborhood Board #12, and Institute of Human Services (IHS). Audrey and her husband Steve have been married for 45 years and have four daughters and 7 “active” grandchildren. |

Galen Ho ’63 recently retired from BAE Systems, Inc. after a career in defense and aerospace that spanned more than 35 years and included leadership positions at Lockheed Martin Corporation (United Kingdom and New York), the Loral Corporation, and IBM. His most recent position at BAE Systems was Senior Vice President for Performance Excellence in Rockville, MD responsible for program management; engineering and technology; strategic planning; mergers and acquisitions; internal audit; information technology and mission success for the company’s U.S.-based operations. These operations collectively employ some 45,000 employees in the U.S., U.K., Sweden and South Africa and generated annual sales in excess of $10 billion. Galen is currently the sole proprietor of Galen Enterprise LLC, a management consultant company focused on areas such as Business Winning, Project Performance, Systems Design and Integration, Risk Assessment Methodologies, Leadership/Mentoring Development and Mergers & Acquisition Support Analysis. His company is located in Burlington, MA. Galen earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Oregon State University and did graduate work at Ohio State University. While serving as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, from 1968 to 1973, he helped develop the Digital Fire Control System for the AC-130E Gunship Program and was awarded the Vietnam Combat Service and the Air Force Meritorious Service Medals. Galen is married to Patricia Ho Ching ’63. In 2002, Galen and Patricia established the Ho-Ching Scholarship at Maryknoll School, which is awarded annually to students of good academic standing and financial need who have demonstrated leadership and service to the community. The Ho-Ching Scholarship honors the value of education which they received and to be given to our future Maryknoll leaders of America. |

Perry K. Martin has served as President of Maryknoll School since July 1, 2008. He completed his high school education from Corvallis High School in Corvallis, Oregon where he was a scholar athlete earning varsity letters in football, basketball, baseball, and track. He attended Oregon College of Education, in Monmouth, Oregon from 1975-1979 completing his Bachelor’s Degree, in education. Oregon College of Education awarded him the title “Outstanding Person in Teacher Education” at graduation. He completed his Master’s Degree, in Education and Computer Education, from . Mr. Martin holds a current Oregon teaching license, and an Elementary and Secondary Administration License from The College of New Jersey. Mr. Martin brings nearly 30 years of educational experience to the position, including more than a decade of Catholic school administration. He most recently served as Head of School at Marist Catholic High School, in Eugene, Oregon recognized by the Oregonian newspaper as the top college prep high school in Oregon. Prior to Marist, he was the Principal of Sacred Heart Catholic School (K-8) in Medford, Oregon where he lead school improvements to place Sacred Heart School in the top 10% of recognized private and Catholic Schools. He also held teaching positions in Dhahran and Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia working with Aramco Schools. During the first Gulf War, Mr. Martin was selected by the Vice President of Aramco to serve on the Northern Area Emergency and Evacuation Council to prepare civilian evacuations at the onset of the war. Perry is married to Leann Martin who is a certified teacher with 25 years of experience. Perry and Leann have two children, both born in Saudi Arabia. Their daughter Cassandra attends the Arts Institute in Portland, will be graduating this March with a bachelor’s Fine Arts degree in Interior Design. She would like to focus her professional career on hotel interior design. Their son Jameson attends Western Oregon State College, as a freshman, on a football scholarship and is majoring in Fire Administration. Perry has great respect for the history and traditions of Maryknoll School and looks forward to leading faculty and staff into a new era of educational growth. |

| Thomas S. Kosasa, MD Co-Chair Capital Campaign | ||
Dr. Thomas Kosasa is in private practice in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. He is also a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as chief of the Reproductive Endocrinology Division at the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii. Dr. Kosasa earned his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College, graduating with distinction in architecture. He earned his B.M.S. from Dartmouth Medical School architecture. He earned his B.M.S. from Dartmouth Medical School and his M.D. from McGill University Medical School in Montreal. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of major. Dr. Kosasa has been an avid aviator since 1963 and holds an airline transport pilot’s license, highest aeronautics rating; he has flown as a pilot for Air Hawaii, Air Molokai, and Air Ambulance. He also has a passion for race cars. Racing honors include 11 first-place finishes in National Hot Road Association New England series, driving a 1965 Corvette, and 10 first-place finishes for the Sport Car Club of America North Atlantic Championship Series, with a 1975 Porsche. He also has participated in Ferrari Club of America racing events. Dr. Kosasa is a member of the State of Hawaii Board of Medical Examiners and serves on the Board of the Aloha Council of the Boy Scouts. Dr. Kosasa and his wife Mi make their home in Honolulu. |

Alfred M.K. Wong is an attorney of counsel for Takushi Wong Lee & Yee Law Corporation in Honolulu. He graduated from Marquette University and earned his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law where he was the Associate Editor of the Hastings Law Review and was named the Alumnus of the Year in 1997. He served as a captain in the US Army Corps of Engineers. He served on the Board of the Hawaii Bar Association where he chaired numerous Sections, including the Real Property and Financial Services Section. He is a former Chair of the Judicial Selection Commission of the State of Hawaii. Al served as President and Board member of the Waialae Country Club. He is a member of the American Law Institute. Al was an adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Hawaii Richardson School of Law teaching real property. Al has been an active member of the community for nearly four decades, holding volunteer leadership positions for numerous organizations including the Friends of Hawaii Charities, Girl Scout Council of Hawaii, Niu Valley Community Association, Friends of the William Richardson Law School and the Hawaii Judicial Selection Commission. He has been a member of the Maryknoll School Board since 1995, serving as board chair for the past six years. He is also co-chair of the capital campaign to build the Maryknoll School Community Center. Al is married to Laurie Hong Wong, a graduate of Maryknoll School. They have two children and four grandchildren. |

Brenda Dung Wong graduated from Maryknoll School in 1977 and attended University of Hawaii-Manoa where she received her bachelor degree in Science-Dietetics. She is married to Kiman Wong and has three children – all of whom have had the good fortune to attend Maryknoll (Bryce ’07, Jake ’11 and Taylor ’11). Brenda is currently the Director of Food & Nutritional Services at Kapiolani Medical Center. She serves as Board Vice President of Hawaii Mother’s Milk, Inc. and is the perpetual team mom for her children’s sports activities. |

| Darryl P. Wong President, Imperial Associates, Ltd. | ||
Darryl Wong is the president of Imperial Associates, Ltd., managing real estate investments in Hawaii, Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Darryl attended Maryknoll from 1st through 8th grade and went on to graduate from St. Louis High School in 1973. He graduated from the University of Portland in 1977 with a degree in accounting, and from the University of Washington in 1980 with a degree in finance and accounting. In 1982, he obtained his CPA. Darryl became an Eagle Scout under Troop 42 and coaches jumpers in track and field as time permits. A parishioner at Sacred Heart Church, Darryl serves as chair of the Finance Committee. He also serves on the University of Portland Board of Regents. Darryl and his wife Teresa Brink-Wong have two children, Jenna (Maryknoll Class of 2006) and Jordan. |

| Major General Darryll D.M. Wong Alumni Association President Major General, Hawaii Air National Guard, Class of 68 | ||
Major General Darryll Wong ’68 is the Commander of the Hawaii Air National Guard (HIANG). He coordinates the development and implementation of the HIANG strategic plan and contingency operational plans and policies. He commands one of the largest and most complex ANG units in the United States with 2,500 people authorized encompassing three flying units (F-15, KC- 135R and C-17), Combat Communications, SIGINT, Air Operations Group, Air Traffic Control, and the Hawaii Regional Operations Control Center. Several units are responsible for the air defense of the Hawaiian Islands with combat aircraft on 24-hr alert. He earned his BA with Honors in Geography at the University of Hawaii and commissioned in May 1972 as a distinguished graduate from the Air Force ROTC program. He recently earned an MBA from the UH Shidler College of Business in May 2009. He flew the C-141A all over the world on active duty as well as during the end of the Vietnam War and joined the HIANG in 1984. Before assuming his current position he served as a maintenance officer for the F-4 and F-15 fighter aircraft before returning to flying duties in the KC-135R and served as the Operations Officer and instructor pilot for the 203rd Air Refueling Squadron during the Kosovo War. He later moved to the HQ as the Director of Operations and project officer for developing C-17A beddown requirements. Darryll has also worked in the Pentagon as the Air National Guard Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Plans and Programs, HQ USAF and currently serves a dual role as the Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander Pacific Air Forces at Hickam AFB. He is a command pilot with over 3,000 hours in the T-37, T-38, C-141A, KC-135R, and C-17. He has over 18,000 hours in the Boeing 737 -200 and -300 while as a senior pilot for Aloha Airlines. He received numerous military awards to include the Legion of Merit. Darryll graduated from Maryknoll School in 1968 (along with his twin brother Derrick) where they both coached volleyball and basketball for over ten years. Darryll and his wife Teresa “Tiki” ’69 have been married for over 30 years and come from families whose siblings graduated from Maryknoll also. They have four children: Tyler ’04, Tasha, Talia, and Taryn. |

Robert Wu is Managing Director, Asia at Castle Resorts & Hotels, as well as chief executive officer of The Wu Group, managing jewelry stores and import of products from Asia, as well as business consulting on Vietnam. He graduated from Farrington High School and attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Robert’s service to the community includes serving on the Executive Committee of the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, as a member of the Hawaii Library Foundation Board of Trustees and as vice president of Scare Mountain Buddhist Temple. Previous service includes the Hawaii Council on Economic Education at the University of Hawaii, from which he received the 1999 Stephen L. Jackstadt Award, and Palama Settlement, where he was named Outstanding Volunteer in 2001. Robert and his wife Angie have two children – Robertson (Maryknoll Class of 2008) and Adrienne (Maryknoll Class of 2010). |
